My buddy Mike sent this around a few months ago. Not only is the song itself a bold take on an already-solid original by Lil Wayne, the music video is shot in an amazingly creative and unique style. Well, just watch. You’ll see.
The artist is the up-and-coming Nyle, who you can learn more about at: http://www.nyleraps.com/
The video was shot all in one take, and in one long, sweeping shot. The audio was recorded simultaneously with the filming; everything you hear on the track is happening in front of you on the video. Genius construction; a bold way to make a music video.
I love how the movement of the camera reveals a new musical element with every turn, and some of the players just appear out of the dark. So many layers of music are added from start to finish.
The best line from the song? “And I don’t need no sample, I got a girl with a banjo,” just as a girl with a banjo appears and begins to play. Yes you do, Nyle, yes you do.
