Putting vowels in titles is for losers.
MSTRKRFT is not.
These dudes from Toronto make some pretty sick remixes (such as Wolfmother’s “Woman”, Justin Timberlake’s “SexyBack”, and John Legend’s “Green Light” (the Legend one is the best of that group)), and the following is no exception.
Wasn’t able to embed, so —->
Act like you don’t love it. Somehow they’re able to speed up the tempo in a really graceful and slick way, and the primary synth line drives the song forward with a real sense of urgency.
But the best part? Listen at about 1:29. Hear that piano part? Oh no big deal; only the piano melody from one of the most beautiful segments of rock history.
What’s that in the back? Why yes, you’re correct: the MSTRKRFT piano bridge IS lifted from the piano coda from Derek & the Dominos’ “Layla”. Listen to the Dominos clip at 3:10. Sound familiar?
But apparently the MSTRKRFT dudes got some legal heat for paying homage to Clapton & the Gang, and so re-released the song with a dramatically altered piano bridge. Damn lawyers, right? Check this version out, the altered piano solo is at 1:31.
Great remix. Great sample. Go download this and impress everyone when it’s on your “ladiessss nite 3!!:)” playlist.
