[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]Wilco covering Steely Dan’s “Any Major Dude Will Tell You”
To my reblog source, fuckyeswilco: words cannot express how thankful I am to have found this. I somehow didn’t know about this song until now. Wilco and the Dan are two of my favorite bands ever: within the past year I saw Wilco live at the Greek in Berkeley, and Steely at the Masonic in SF and at the Beacon in New York.
Needless to say, I’m pretty excited to hear it. It’s like the time that Smalls found out that Babe Ruth and the Great Bambino were the same guy. Only I’m really stoked, not forced by extreme circumstances to construct a huge erector set contraption to re-acquire a priceless piece of sports memorabilia from a giant junkyard dog.
Sandlot allusions aside, take a listen. This oddly-titled tune is from the Dan’s great album Pretzel Logic. Listen to the original here. Wilco does a spectacular job covering this track. Of course, Wilco can do little wrong in my eyes. Kind of like this drummer. Enjoy everyone.
